Taix French Restaurant offers a selection of 600 wines. In 1912, Marius Taix Sr. built a hotel called the Champ d’Or in downtown Los Angeles’ French quarter. Marius Taix Jr. opened Taix French Restaurant within the hotel in 1927. The restaurant originally served chicken dinners for 50 cents at long ‘family-style’ tables. Family style service has given way to private booths, but Taix French Restaurant remains faithful to its well-known tureen of soup, sourdough bread and plentiful portions of French country cuisine. The restaurant s menu includes such entrees as pot roast of beef, roast chicken, beef bourguignon, chicken diable and chilled salmon salad. Taix French Restaurant s present location opened in 1962.
