The Italian Center of Stamford was chartered by the state of Connecticut in 1933. It was founded as the Italian Social Institute in 1909. The center has recreational and catering facilities that are used to host blood drives for the Red Cross; monthly swim sessions for local boy scouts; wine tastings for several local Italian organizations; and fundraisers for the Bennett Cancer Center and Stamford Rehabilitation Center. In addition, the Italian Center of Stamford annually donates food and monetary contributions to various local social service agencies, such as Connecticut Food Bank, Shelter for the Homeless and New Covenant House. It offers multiple programs for kids and adults. The Italian Center of Stamford s banquet and conference center hosts several corporate events, private parties, weddings, picnics and business meetings.
