Travel Bennett V.I.P. is the combination of two of southern California’s most established companies, H.B. Bennett Travel of Pasadena and V.I.P. Travel of Sierra Madre. Both are rich in history and in the experience of their travel counselors! H.B. Bennett Travel opened for business in 1945 and is the oldest travel agency in Pasadena. Its founder, Harry Bennett moved to California from England in 1926 and originally sold travel for Bank of America, and later for Jones Steamship Agency, to customers in the area. The second owner of H.B. Bennett, Doug Fordyce, a Scotsman, joined the company in 1960 after earlier careers with British Railways and Ask Mr. Fosterand after 48 sailings on the Queen Mary as one of its musicians! V.I.P Travel opened its doors in 1963 in Sierra Madre and was joined in 1965 by Horst Engel who soon became its co-owner with Margie Ferguson. Horst, like Harry and Doug, came from Europe where he grew up learning to be a violin maker at a school in Germany! H.B. Bennett Travel and V.I.P. Travel merged in 2003 to form Bennett V.I.P. Travel, and now occupy the former H.B. Bennett office in Pasadena.
