The Oakland Zoo, a nonprofit organization and operated by the East Bay Zoological Society. Founded in 1922 by Henry Snow, the zoo is located in Oakland, Calif., and has been operational since 1936. It is spread over 525 acres of rolling hills and is home to more than 400 native and exotic animals. The zoo offers a wide range of programs that include education, family, volunteer and conservation programs.
