The Sugar Bowl Ski Resort & Lodge has a history dating back more than 60 years. The ski resort opened for business in 1939 with a lift up Mt. Disney, the first chairlift in northern California. William Wurster designed the Sugar Bowl Lodge, which hosts thousands of visitors annually. The resort also operates numerous other lodges and more than 1,500 acres of skiing down Mt. Judah. It has expanded to include 10 lifts, 84 trails and a 450-foot super pipe for snowboarding. The Sugar Bowl Ski Resort & Lodge has hosted the Winter X-Games and also has several restaurants, bars and sundecks. Ski rental and repair shops are located onsite, as well as a video and photography studio. The Sugar Bowl Ski Resort & Lodge is located south of Interstate 80, outside of Norden, Calif.
