Great Lakes Brewery is a beer microbrewery and restaurant located on Market Avenue in Cleveland. Established in 1988 by brothers Patrick and Daniel Conway, Great Lakes Brewing Company became the first microbrewery in the state of Ohio and remains one of Ohio’s most celebrated and award-winning brewers of lagers and ales. Its selection of homemade beers includes lagers, ales, amber lagers and white ales. Its menu selections include artichoke dip, salmon cakes, salads, wood oven pizzas, soups, burgers, bratwurst, steak, halibut, lamb and desserts. The brewery consists of six buildings, three of which originally served as horse stables and kegging facilities for the Schlather Brewing Company, an operation that was built in 1878 and once brewed up to 90,000 barrels a year. Great Lakes Brewing Company’s distribution area extends to Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
