Since 1983, the Juban family has offered creole cuisine in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere at Juban’s Restaurant. The original idea was to build a casual upscale restaurant with small dining rooms surrounding an atrium bar. The atrium was to have the charm of a New Orleans courtyard since nothing like it had been built in Baton Rouge, La. The restaurant opened to an instant success. Esquire Magazine’s John Mariani named it as one of the Best New Restaurants in America. Under the direction of Chef Terry Mcdonner, the restaurant garnered numerous accolades and awards for its unique rendition of creole food. In 2002, the restaurant expanded into the adjoining building. Interior designer Albert Nolan blended the original space with the new area to give the restaurant an updated look, but retained the now-famous warmth and charm. The addition added a large banquet room, small private dining rooms and atrium fireplace and the popular Wine Room. Recently, the Veranda was opened for patio dining. The restaurant also has a catering service.
