Jjohn and Agatha Barbato started his pizza restaurant in the 1930s in Erie, Pa. Barbato’s was one of the first to introduce the pre-baked pizza shell, round pizza and the submarine sandwich to the Erie market. The restaurant specializes in Bruschetta bread, homemade wedding soup, calzones, homemade pastas, homemade gnocchi, stuffed shells, Sicilian pizza, Italian dishes and a variety of other items such as seafood, chicken wings and salads. It also offers catering and picnic pavilion facilities. Barbato s other branches in Erie are located in Wesleyville, Valu Plaza, South, Burton Plaza and Bayfront, Pa.
